Vanilla Cardamom Sugar Cookie Recipe

One whiff of our Vanilla & Cardamom Deodorant will have you heading to the kitchen to whip up something tasty. With aromatics akin to a sugar cookie, we thought it only proper that we share an inspired sugar cookie recipe to satisfy the craving.


For the Sugar Cookies:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened (you can also use a plant-based butter alternative)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (consider using a natural sweetener like coconut sugar)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom

For the Vanilla Cardamom Sugar:

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamom


  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar until well combined.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. 
  5. Divide the cookie dough in half, and shape each half into a disk. Wrap them in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until the dough is firm.
  6. While the dough is chilling, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. To make the vanilla cardamom sugar: In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamom to make the sugar topping.
  8. Roll out one disk of dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out your desired shapes.
  9. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the cookies.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Be careful not to overbake; you want them to be slightly soft in the center.
  11. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
